Course objectives (in Czech)
- naučit pohotově a bezproblémově používat jazyk při výkonu povolání, komunikaci s pacientem, jeho rodinou, spolupracovníky
- kultivovat celkový osobní projev, chování a vystupování ve vztahu k cizincům
- umožnit vyšší mobilitu a uplatnění na trhu práce
Learning outcomes (in Czech)
- pracovat se zdroji informací, se slovníkem, jazykovými příručkami
- používat slovní zásobu včetně vybrané frazeologie specifické pro obor
- odvozovat významy neznámých slov na základě osvojené slovní zásoby, znalosti tvorby slov, internacionalismů a kontextu
- dohovořit se anglicky v běžných komunikativních situacích
- používat základní lékařskou terminologii
- používat anglický jazyk v základních administrativních činnostech
- reprodukovat přečtený přiměřeně náročný odborný text
- logicky a jasně strukturovat písemný projev

  • Introduction:
    This module, Language Skills in Medicine, is concentrated on the particular language skills such as speaking, reading, listening and writing. The purpose if this modul is to improve the ability to speak with patients and their relatives, with medical colleagues and paramedical staff. It is intended to develop both their speed and their accuracy in reading medical articles.

  • The educational aims:
    - to improve particular langauage skills – speaking, reading, listening, and writing
    - to give the practice in asking questions, instructing and explaining
    - to improve the ability to follow spoken English more easily and accurately
    - to develop the skills needed to understand a range of medical texts
    - to cope with reading of all kinds from documents to journal articles
    - to practise listening to an English speakers . patients, doctors, nurses speakers at medical conferences
    - to improve the ability to present written medical information in English
    - to be able to fill in the medical papers

  • Introduction: The module ”Body Systems” deals with anatomy and physiology of the various systems. Students learn how to take information from both written and oral texts and from visually presented material such as tables and diagrams. The lessons are based on material which should be familiar to students from their nursing studies, including various topics from anatomy and physiology.

Teaching methods (in Czech)
Výuka u kombinované formy je kombinací účasti na výuce a samostudia. Probíhá formou přednášek, cvičení, samostudia a konzultací. Cvičení a přednášky probíhají v blocích, u kombinované formy je výuka soustředěna především do pátků a sobot a rozložena je do celého semestru. Samostudiem si studenti osvojují značnou část obsahové náplně modulů, která koresponduje s obsahem vzdělávání uvedeným ve studijním plánu. Ten jim je předkládán v podobě studijních opor. Tyto studijní opory jsou připraveny vyučujícími pro každý modul jako strukturovaný text, audio nebo videonahrávky, obsahující kromě nezbytného studijního obsahu i prvky vnější a vnitřní zpětné vazby. Konzultace je možná emailem nebo po dohodě s vyučujícím. Na konzultace slouží k ujasnění nejasností a problémů, na které studenti při studiu narazí.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Kontrola získaných znalostí probíhá formou testovacích otázek. Na webovém portálu SharePoint student vypracuje testy - testové otázky za jednotlivými kapitolami. Úspěšnost musí být alespoň 70 % pro jednotlivý test. Testy lze vypracovávat opakovaně. Při opakovaném spuštění se mění otázky a zaznamenává se ve výpise testů další pokus a jeho výsledek. Po úspěšném vypracování jednotlivých testů vypracuje student souhrnný test, který je náhodně vygenerován ze složky, která obsahuje minimálně 150 otázek. Úspěšnost souhrnného testu musí být alespoň 60 %. Vyučující na webovém portále SharePoint v části Testy ve složce Výsledky testů zkontroluje vypracování jednotlivých testů a výsledky testů.
Studenti dále řeší zadané úkoly, např. prezentace nebo seminární práce, které jsou hodnoceny a kontrolovány vyučujícím a jsou také součástí portfolia studenta. Portfolio je předkládáno při SZZK jako doklad o aktivním naplnění samostudia.
