Předmět je zaměřen prakticky a má stěžejní význam při vytváření psychoterapeutického náhledu studenta.

Cílem předmětu je seznámit s významem psychoterapie jako součásti základního kontaktu s pacientem a se zvláštnostmi psychoterapie u somaticky nemocných. Pochopit možností a meze psychoterapie. Pochopit psychoterapeutický výcvik zdravotníka jako obranu proti psychickému vyčerpání zdravotníka.
